Found. is a curated photography book project created to honor real dogs and share the stories of how they were found. This book project is inspired by the work of GoodBoy Dog Recovery and the hundreds of dogs' stories Stacey Sherman of BarkHop Studio has heard during her years of photographing them.
Participating dogs and their people will receive a custom studio portrait session designed to capture their personality in beautifully lit fine art portraits. The finished images and stories will be included in Found. As a participant in this project, dog parents will have the opportunity to purchase art work and digital images of their dogs.
50% of every session fee and 100% of book sales will directly benefit GoodBoy Dog Recovery, a nonprofit organization that helps bring lost dogs home through thermal drone searches, feeding stations, and years of experience reuniting families.
By participating in Found., you are preserving your own dog’s story through custom artwork while helping another dog find their way back to the people who love them.
Maybe they taught you patience.
Maybe they showed up at just the right time.
Maybe they were once scared, lost, or wild—and now they’re yours.
This book is about them.
And how they were Found.
Consultation and Story Planning
It all begins with a relaxed phone or video call conversation about your dog so I can learn about your dog's story. How did they find their way into your life? What makes them who they are? This helps shape both your studio portrait session and the written story that will accompany their feature in the book.
Portrait Session at BarkHop Studio
Your dog leads the way. Some dogs walk right in and make themselves at home. Some are a bull in a china shop. Some observe quietly. The session is calm, unrushed, and built around capturing their personality and presence exactly as they are in this chapter of their life.
Story and Artwork Reveal
Two weeks after your session, we will meet again over video or at the studio to view your dog’s portraits for the first time. This is a moment many clients treasure — seeing your dog’s spirit and presence come to life in print. We review the full collection of images together, finalize the written story for the book, and begin designing meaningful artwork for your home.
Artwork Selection
During your reveal appointment, you will choose how your dog’s portraits will live beyond the book. At this stage you can choose prints, wall art, albums, or digital collections. Artwork is purchased separately, and most clients invest between $800 and $1200 through this process. I will guide you through so you feel good about the artwork you select and your investment in your dog's portraits.
Book Feature
Two photos will be selected from your session by BarkHop Studio to visually represent your dog’s story alongside the written narrative in the pages of Found.
Found. will be a beautifully printed, hardcover fine art style book featuring the dogs and stories from this project. Each dog will have their own two-page spread, designed to highlight the emotion, personality, and details that make them who they are.
This will be a limited-edition book. Once it goes to print, that’s it — no reprints, no second runs. It’s created for the dog parents who participate, the supporters of GoodBoy Dog Recovery, and the people who simply believe every dog deserves to be found and brought home safely.
Every dog parent who participates will have the option to purchase one copy of Found. at cost during the ordering appointment. Additional copies will be available as well — perfect for gifts, keepsakes, or to gift to your vet, groomer, or rescue to help spread the message behind the project.
When the book is ready for print, you’ll receive a preorder link and update. All orders will ship directly to you, or you can choose to pick up your copy at BarkHop Studio.
As the book nears completion, BarkHop Studio will hold a cover contest to invite the community to vote for the cover dog. Details will be provided at that time.
