Some dogs walk into the studio and instantly make themselves at home. Mazy was one of those dogs.
This sweet 5 1/2-year-old Yorkshire Terrier recently visited BarkHop Studio in Chester County, PA for her very first professional dog portrait session, and from the moment she arrived, she was curious, engaged, and completely soaking up the experience with her pawrents.
Mazy is more than just adorable. She is an AKC Good Citizen Award recipient, an ATD Certified Therapy Dog, and spends time at West Chester University bringing comfort, connection, and smiles to students as a therapy dog. Beyond all of her accomplishments, though, her dog mom and dad describe her best in two simple words: loving and caring.
There were so many moments during her dog photography session that showed exactly who Mazy is and how meaningful her therapy work is to both her and her mom. She has the kind of presence that instantly puts people at ease, along with a smile that truly lights up her entire face.
Sessions like Mazy’s are always a reminder that dog portraits are about so much more than creating pretty photos. They are about preserving personality and celebrating the connection people share with the dogs they love so deeply. As a Chester County dog photographer, those moments are always the most important part of the experience for me.
After their Chester County dog portrait session, Mazy’s parents chose fine art prints so they could enjoy her portraits in their home every single day. There is something incredibly special about seeing your dog displayed as artwork instead of hidden away on a phone camera roll. These portraits become daily reminders of the joy, comfort, and love our dogs bring into our lives.
One of my favorite parts of photographing therapy dogs like Mazy is knowing how many lives they touch. Dogs like her make the world softer in ways most people never fully see. Whether she is comforting college students at West Chester University or curled up at home with her family, Mazy leaves people feeling better simply by being herself.
You can find this sweet girl on Instagram at @ayorkienamedmazy, but just in case you do not make it over there, this is what Mazy shared about her portrait session at BarkHop Studio:
“I’m one lucky dog! My parents and I were gifted my first ever professional photo session and it was soooo much fun! I felt like a movie star! I even got to play with toys and bubbles…and enjoyed plenty of treats!”
It truly was a perfect day in the studio and an experience Mazy’s mom and dad will remember always.

Whether your dog is outgoing like Mazy or a little more reserved, the goal is always the same: creating meaningful artwork that celebrates the dogs who make our lives better every single day.
